Wellington: After the defeat in first T20 Match in Chirstchurch, New Zealand made a fantastic come-back with their victory in the second T20 against England.
England won the toss and elected to bowl first. The New Zealand team came into the ground with Martin Guptill and Colin Munro as their openers. MJ Guptill made fantastic 41 runs from 28 balls. Later on, JDS Neesham supported the team’s score with his fierce 42 runs from 22 balls including four sixes.
England’s bowling line up couldn’t stop runs flow and ended up with target of 176 runs. England lost their first wicket at the very first ball of the inning and the second wicket during the 2nd over. DJ Malan and EJG Morgan supported the innings for a while but the Kiwi bowlers didn’t let any batsman bat for long enough.
Southee, Ferguson and Santner took seven wickets altogether which rattled England’s batting side. JDS Neesham proved to be the only expensive bowler taking 23 runs in just 2 overs. But that couldn’t hurt New Zealand much.
“The Blackcaps played really well. I thought we bowled really well to them. We didn’t bat or field anywhere near what we did the other day.” said England skipper Eoin Morgan in the match ceremony.
Dawid Malan while speaking Sky sports said: “We fielded really badly, we dropped a lot of wickets, myself included.” “We fielded really well in the first game, so for us to come here and do what we did today was disappointing.” Malan Added.
Team England got all out at 155 runs and New Zealand leveled the T20 series by knocking off their opponents by 21 runs in the 2nd T20 match. New Zealand’s Mitchel Santner declared as the man of the match.
However, it is yet to see who wins the series as it is a full fledged 5 match series with 3 matches yet to be played.
